What are my rights as an employee in California?

California employees are protected against discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and are entitled to lawful wages, meal and rest breaks, and protected leave in many situations. Deadlines to file with a state or federal agency can be short.

What counts as wrongful termination?

Firing an employee for a legally protected reason, such as reporting unlawful conduct, requesting leave, or a protected characteristic, may be wrongful termination even in an at-will state.
